Kemp Natural Resources Station

Wildlife Ecology E-Journal: Friday, May 30, 2003

Students conduct the initial vegetative sampling in one of ten deer exclosures constructed across Kemp NRS. In subsequent years, other students will re-sample the exclosures to determine the effect of browsing by white-tailed deer.

In another deer exclosure, Paul and Corrin identify and count herbaceous plants using a one meter square frame.

The thirty of us pack into S-A-Loon's for a traditional Wisconsin dinner...Friday night fish fry!

Dr. Nancy Mathews, UW-Madison, joins students by the fireplace to discuss wildlife career issues. Students had the opportunity to talk about subjects such as pursuing a graduate degree, creating a network of contacts, as well as balancing a family with a career.

John Cary finally captures the elusive ruffed grouse!
