Public education is a vital component of Kemp Station's
mission. Each year, the Station conducts a comprehensive outreach program
that includes seminars, workshops, lectures, and interpretive nature
walks.
Events are designed to enhance public understanding of environmental
topics and promote the wise stewardship of our natural resources.
Collectively, these activities embody the Wisconsin Idea namely,
extending the boundaries of the University to the boundaries of the
state.

In addition to outreach events, Kemp Station publishes an
informative newsletter called Kemp's Point. The newsletter, distributed
twice a year, highlights recent activities at Kemp Station and includes
stories on research projects, field courses, and interesting facts about
the natural world around us. Readers can view current and past newsletters
on-line, or receive the current copy in the mail. |
A third component of Kemp Station's outreach efforts is Outdoors - a
weekly radio commentary that airs Thursday mornings on WXPR
- 91.7 FM, Rhinelander. Outdoors provides a fun and informative look
at the natural history of the Northwoods. It regularly features on-going
research projects that examine the complexities of our environment and our
interactions with it.
